Law School Planning Study

Working with the Yale Law School Space Committee and the Office of Facilities Planning, Perry Dean Rogers completed a study of the Law School’s space needs in four principal areas; Instructional Spaces, Faculty Spaces, Administrative Spaces, and Student Spaces. The Yale Law School core mission is “to provide the students with the best possible legal education.” The final report was meant to enable efforts to ensure the availability of the right types of space to support the core mission, in the right quantity and in the right location.

Through in-depth analysis, data collection, interviews, and site observations, PDR generated a report that documents existing space use, quantified future growth needs, and identified underutilized space for potential improvements in efficiency.  The study identified and prioritized the needs of each user group – students, faculty, and staff.  The goal was to provide an overview of immediate space needs with possible solutions, as well as future space needs for incorporation into a long-term master plan.
