Hillside Auditorium is the first, newly constructed landscape over structure building in the history of the University. The building features two auditoriums and is rated LEED Silver.

Located in the University of Arkansas Campus Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, Hillside Auditorium will be prominently located adjacent to the Chi Omega Greek Theatre. The building, which negotiates a 40 foot elevation change from the top of the hill to the bottom, reads more as a series of site walls unfolding into the landscape – a resultant of the desire to respect views to and from the Greek Theatre and to be sensitive to the new building’s visual impact on this historic structure and landscape, both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hillside Auditorium will be the first, newly constructed landscape over structure building in the history of the University, incorporating three planted roofs which all meet grade at varying levels of the hill. Internally, a large, 475 seat, and a small, 290 seat, auditorium comprise the inner program. Although primarily planned for use during the academic year as lecture halls, both auditoria are likewise designed with AV/IT and acoustic flexibility to support theatrical and musical performances at varying scales. Back of house lecture prep rooms will double as performance green rooms in these instances. Furthermore, the building incorporates a pavilion structure with an adjacent outdoor plaza and appropriately sized lobbies that double as event spaces to support performances held in the building. Hillside Auditorium is rated LEED Silver.
